Pilton Party 2016 - We Are On!!

August 2016

We can barely contain our excitement... Infact, we can't contain it at all...

We have been chosen to play at the Pilton Party 2016 along with King Eider from Edinburgh, to support Fat Boy Slim and Blossoms.

Very, very excited!

Thursday at Glastonbury - Central Somerset Gazette

June 2015

The only band to get a mention in Tom Henry's summing up of Thurday at Glastonbury. He wrote:

"Bands like The Activators, from Lincoln, who entertained sunbathers around the Croissant Neuf Bandstand with a lively mix of ska, eastern, celtic and, erm, tango. Coming across like a Specials/Levellers hybrid, the band had a Derby County-shirted keyboard player straight from the Jerry Dammers University of Advanced Organ Studies, plus a fiddler and a guy at the back knocking out the rhythm on a triangle. This, folks, is what Glastonbury is all about."

 Rest in Peace Ed

Ed Korolyk - inspiration, genius, legend, desperately-missed fellow Activator. A true man of conscience.

Paris gets Activated

Febuary 2015

The Parisian music scene is still reeling from the whirlwind visit of the Activators to the Pop In in the Marais. What a night, what an audience, what a venue...we're going back soon! In case you missed it, it looked something like this:

New Dates coming in thick and fast

May 2015

This summer is the time to catch the Activators in full flow - with a bag full of new tunes and original favourites. First up Lincoln, Glastonbury and London...are you ready to be Activated?

Old Favourites and New Horizons

October 2014

The band have been busy playing around the country this Autumn with returns to Camden Dumplin's Ska and new nights for One Doncaster, Ska Central and Sonophilia Festival blazing the trail for the new.

With austerity not going away for many and UKIP on the rise...The Activators have a little message for you! Sing in Unison!

Festival Season 2014

July 2014

Another exciting summer for the Activators - the highlights including sharing the ska stage with Neville Staple and Roddy Radiation at Coventry Godiva and the main stage with Kool and the Gang, The Farm and Ashley Roberts at Guilfest. We love the diversity, we love the madness, we love Camp Activator!

Activating in Unusual Places

May 2014

The Activators are in the middle of a round of short-notice pop-up gigs in unusual places! How many people can we squeeze into the smallest space? We're loving it! Next up The Dambusters Inn on May 17th.

Activators, Selecter, Dodgy and all - giving it up at the Surrey Xmas Ball

December 2013

Wow. Wow.

Yep, that should do it.

Wow what a night. Thanks to everyone involved in the Guilfest Crimbleberry Ball at Surrey Uni, particularly Tony and Duncan, and to all you wonderful folk who supported it.

Wow, what an honour to meet Pauline Black. How amazing is she??

Skint with an Alter Ego? You'll need Activating, as Molly & Jack Sell Out

October 2013

Ok, so its a crap contender for Headline Caption of the Week. And certainly not in the league of my personal favourites - "Elton takes David up the aisle" and  " Super Caley go ballistic, Celtic are atrocious," but a brilliant nite at The Engne Shed nethertheless!

A SELL OUT halloween crowd were treated to a loud, proud, skatastic evening with THE SKINTS, THE ACTIVATORS, ALTER EGOS and MOLLY & JACK. Not a bad caption after all? (Don't reply)

Activators

September 2013

No... It really does just keep getting more exciting by the day!! We can now barely contain ourselves. Hot on the tails of Nigel joining us, we have only gone and recruited the one and only Mr Rob Rosa on violin. Rob replaces our out-going mate Ed, who has decided to pack up. Bless you Ed - we'll miss you!

Nige joins The Activators on Pots and Pans

September 2013

It just keeps getting more exciting by the day. The Activators are thrilled to announce our new drummer is the one and only Mr Nigel Lobley, formerly of internationally renowned Kevin Thorpe's Out of the Blue. Nige, who has toured throughout Europe and worked with the likes of Gary Moore, replaces Tash following her move to 2-Tone legends The Beat.

Activators Eight : Sonic Boom Six - Leicester Oxjam

August 2013

Perhaps it should be called "Eight go mad in Leicester". Not a football score you understand, but a rollickingly brilliant day-long  event in aid of Oxfam at the Oxjam Scabecue.

Sonic Boom Six topped the bill with support from our good selves and Fighting Evil Is Cool, amongst a host of excellent others.

Don't tell anyone - we were actually two members down on the day - a meagre eight on stage!!

Tasha Auditions with 'The Beat'

July 2013

Exciting news on the shoes! The Activators most recent recruit on the pots and pans - our very own Natasha Allen, has been auditioned by 2-Tone legends The Beat. She spent a day with Ranking Roger et al going through some stuff and has been offered the gig. She will dep for long time drummer Everett Morton who is winding down the number gigs he will play.

NICE ONE TASH - GO GET 'EM GAL!! ALL GOOD LUCK FROM YOUR ACTIVATING FRIENDS!

Activators Storm Strummercamp

May 2013

The Activators would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone at this year's Srummercamp for making it such a special festival and fantastic event. Can't wait til next year already!!

The Activators Unveil New Drummer

February 2013

The Activators are delighted to announce the identity of their new drummer. Natasha Rose Allen has joined the band to replace Danny Gatward.

Activators 'go down a bomb 'at The Dambusters!

February 2013

Saturday 2nd February saw The Activators performing their unique Bomber County Sound in what is arguably its spiritual home - The Dambusters Inn, Scampton. The Pub is packed with old RAF memorabilia and artifacts, and is like a museum that happens to serve fantastic real beers. Brilliant acoustic singalong night had by all. Thanks for having us Greg - Chocks  Away...
